GEO: How to Turn Visibility into Commercial Consideration
By Pedro Sonda, dooop
To transform AI visibility into commercial consideration, a company needs to appear in the questions that precede purchase, be described by AI as a suitable option for specific cases, offer the buyer validation consistent with what AI stated, and measure this path through the CRM. Appearing in informational questions is useful but not enough: commercial value lies in choice, comparison, and contracting questions.

Why Visibility Alone Does Not Generate Business
There are two common mismatches.
Visibility in the wrong questions. A company may have its content cited in educational answers ("what is AI governance?") and never be remembered in contracting questions ("which consultancy should I hire to structure AI governance?"). The first generates authority; only the second generates consideration.
Few clicks even when present. In a study with 900 adults in the US in March 2025, Google users who saw an AI summary clicked on traditional results in 8% of visits, compared to 15% for those who did not see it, and clicked on links within the summary in only 1% (Pew Research Center). Part of the choice happens before any site visit.
At the same time, when a click does occur, it can be more valuable. Ahrefs reported that visitors coming from AI search represented 0.5% of their traffic and 12.1% of signups in 30 days, with a conversion rate 23 times higher than traditional organic search (Ahrefs). This is the result of a single company and should not be generalized.
Interpretation: visitors coming from AI appear to arrive with a more advanced evaluation, so presence in contracting questions is worth more than click volume.
dooop Framework: The AI-Mediated Decision Funnel
| Stage | What Happens | Main Metric | Where It Is Lost |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. Presence | The company appears in answers | Presence rate by intent family | Absence in commercial questions |
| 2. Consideration | AI presents it as a suitable option with justification | Presence in contracting and comparison questions; associated attributes | Generic mention without fit to the case |
| 3. Validation | The buyer researches the company, visits the site, seeks references | Brand searches; visits from AI; pages visited | Site inconsistent with AI description |
| 4. Conversion | The buyer contacts or purchases | Leads and opportunities originating from AI | No attribution in CRM |
Stage 2 is the core commercial issue. Consideration means being described as an appropriate answer for a specific case, not just being mentioned.
How to Advance Through Each Stage
From Presence to Consideration
- Prioritize commercial intents in planning: contracting, comparison, solution, and audience. These are the questions where AI compiles option lists.
- Make the fit explicit. Describe for which sectors, company sizes, regions, and problems each service is indicated. AI only justifies a recommendation for a case if it finds information about it. See What Makes AI Recommend a Company?.
- Build third-party confirmed proof. In 75,000 brands, web mentions had a correlation of 0.664 with presence in AI Overviews, versus 0.218 for backlinks (Ahrefs, 2025).
From Consideration to Validation
Visitors arriving after an AI answer come with an expectation: "AI said this company is an expert in X for companies like mine." Validation fails when the site does not confirm this immediately.
- Align the site with the desired description. Service pages should confirm, in the first lines, the attributes that justify the recommendation.
- Create pages for choice questions: selection criteria, honest comparisons, contracting formats. These are the pages buyers visit to confirm their decision.
- Facilitate verification: cases, specialists, and references accessible within a few clicks.
From Validation to Conversion
- Track the origin. ChatGPT includes
utm_source=chatgpt.comin referral links (OpenAI — FAQ for publishers). On Google, AI resource traffic appears combined with web search in Search Console, without separation (Google Search Central). - Ask the lead. Include in the form and first commercial conversation the question "How did you hear about the company?" with the option "ChatGPT, Gemini, or other AI." Part of the influence leaves no technical trace.
- Record in CRM. Create an AI origin field and monitor conversion rates and sales cycles for these opportunities.
How to Measure Commercial Effect
| Indicator | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Presence in contracting and comparison intents | Whether the company enters the set of alternatives |
| Attributes AI associates with the company | Whether the description favors fit with the ideal client |
| Sessions originating from AI and pages visited | Whether validation is happening |
| Leads self-declaring AI origin | Influence without traceable clicks |
| Opportunities and revenue originating from AI | Effect on business |
Read presence indicators with a margin of error because answers vary greatly between runs; SparkToro recommends running each question 60 to 100 times for reliable measurement (SparkToro, 2026). The complete method is in How to Measure AI Visibility.
What to Do Now
- If the company only measures traffic: add presence in commercial intents and the origin question in the form.
- If it appears in educational questions but not contracting ones: rewrite service pages with explicit fit and invest in third-party proof.
- If it receives AI visits but few contacts: review coherence between what AI describes and what landing pages confirm.
- If there is no AI origin in CRM: create the field before any new investment to measure return.

Frequently Asked Questions
If AI traffic is small, is it worth investing? It depends on the weight of commercial questions in your market. Small volume with high intent can have a relevant impact on sales, as shown by the Ahrefs case, which should not be generalized without measuring your own case.
How to prove GEO return to management? With a baseline of presence in commercial intents, AI origin recorded in CRM, and comparison between sales cycles. Without these three elements, return remains opinion-based.
When someone asks "which AI consultancy should I hire?", what makes AI recommend a company? Fit with the question conditions and confirmation by independent sources. The company needs to declare for whom it is indicated and have proof that other sources confirm it.
